Council's Carbon Footprint

Council's greenhouse gas inventory was completed to align Council’s corporate carbon emission data with National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) methodology. This data will assist the Council to monitor and reduce emissions under its operational control. The data shows us that during financial year 2022-2023, Council’s carbon footprint was 6,979 tonnes CO2-e. The largest source of emissions was electricity used in Council facilities, which accounts for 51% of the emissions. Other emissions sources include waste disposal to landfill (28%), transport (9%), and water and wastewater (2%).
